Activities For Children
What are Useful Activities for Children
Activities for children vary from child to child. Every child is a bundle of energy. There are different forms in which this energy gets manifested. Children's activities should act as a medium to channel the energy of the children in a useful and constructive manner. Before you give any sort of activity to children, you should understand that they even at a very young age have an inborn craving for becoming independent. In other words, they want to do things their own way most of the time. If this wish is not accepted, they protest in different ways, which may not be apparent. So, if the activities do not go as planned, parents should not become frustrated or impatient.
Different Types Of Activities For Children
All children love to play with toys. But it is also true that they will usually get bored with toys pretty quickly. In such a situation, either they damage them or ignore them. But you can get innovative and show the kids how to make various toy items from paper and other waste material. If you do not know or remember those funny boats, planes, and balls you had made during your own childhood, you can recall with the help of a Google search on the internet. After learning the paper craft of making various funny items, you can show it to the kids and encourage them to make similar shapes. Ideally you should not interfere too often unless in the case of absolute bottlenecks in the progress of the kid's work.
Coloring and drawing books are ideal play objects for children under the age of six. You have to provide crayons and coloring pencils to the kids. Coloring and drawing are good creative activities for children. You can understand whether the child has any talent in drawing as well. Also these books and crayons allow you to teach a sense of orderliness and neatness to the children. Always encourage the children to keep the books and drawing accessories neatly.
Engaging in simple mathematical puzzles and practical mathematical problems provides mental exercise; hence it is a good activity for children. Mathematical puzzle books containing such games and mathematical kits for playing the practical games are available in several shops.
If your child is old enough to learn spellings and meanings of words, different types of word games are ideal for developing their word power. Various kinds of scramble and crossword-like games are available in shops.
Despite the Winter season, children should be allowed to engage in minor and light kind of gardening activities such as watering the plants and nipping flowers and leaves, whether indoors or outdoors. This will provide an opportunity for the children to interact and become familiar with the various aspects of living organisms. Also, such activities for children improve their observation power and will allow them to understand the changing seasons.

What Are The Types Of Night Vision Goggles?
Night vision goggles use an electro optical imaging device which is able to detect both visible and near infrared energy sources and then is able to intensify these energy sources further in order to provide a visible image for viewing at night. Sometimes people will often refer to them as NVG's instead. Today's night vision goggles can either be held by a person in their hands or be mounted on to a helmet.
Although the general public are able to obtain and use these night vision devices, more often than not they are used by law enforcement agencies and the military. Initially these devices were used by the military forces during the Vietnam war and have gone through many stages of development since then and currently the US Military are now using a 4th generation version of the ones originally developed.
The prices of these night vision goggles can cost as little as a couple of hundred dollars to some of them costing around $6,000. However there are some 3rd generation goggles which are of a very high quality and can cost less than a $1,000 and are more widely available to the general public than the 4th generation ones are.
There are two kinds of night vision goggles in use today and these are the passive and active. Passive night vision goggles are able to pick up any light within the immediate area where the person using them is located and then magnify this light several times over by use of the image intensifier.
You will often see this type of night vision being used when reporters are reporting from a war zone and the pictures that you seen on the TV in front of you will have a green tint to it. The reason why green is used in most night vision devices is because the human eye is very sensitive and is able to discern things more clearly when it comes in various shades of green. Plus using green helps the user's eyes to readjust more quickly once the goggles have been removed compared to other colors that have been tried.
The other type are active night vision goggles. They project an infrared light (the same which you will find in your TV or satellite remote control). They then produce an image to the user's eye because of the light that has been reflected back.
However in order for these to be really effective an image enhancer may be required to amplify the light further. Today this kind of night vision device is often used in home video cameras and is certainly the most suitable for us to use in order for us to see adequately in the dark at night. But it should be noted that there are some night vision goggles which actually combine the two methods together.

Snoopy Halloween Costumes For Charlie Brown Fans Everywhere
What makes Snoopy Halloween Costumes an ideal costume choice for toddlers, kids and adults? Few comic-strip characters are as beloved and enduring as the Peanuts gang. Children still gather around the television to watch the classic holiday movies featuring this bunch, though these Charles M. Schulz cartoons were created over forty years ago. The Halloween Special is still a favorite of kids today. You know, the one where Charlie is waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. When children or adults are considering what to wear trick-or-treating or for the office dress up contest, they should let this serve as inspiration and choose Snoopy costumes.
This classic beagle dog outfit is one of the creative costume ideas available for a child or for an adult and it can be found at one of the many online Halloween costume stores. Infants and toddlers tend to look cute no matter what they wear, but they will look even more adorable in a Snoopy costume. Parents can add a stuffed Woodstock and a real dog bone to their outfit to complete the look. If the child is in a stroller or wagon, the adult can build a doghouse from cardboard, paint it red to look just like Snoopy's real home, and put it on top of the vehicle.
Older children can find costumes of Snoopy that include a full-body outfit. The dog's head usually rests on top of their own head so they can easily breathe and see. Parents can help them put it on if necessary. Kids can add goggles, a flight cap, and a red or yellow scarf if they want to dress up like the Red Baron. Adding a dog biscuit-shaped container creates a great candy holder for trick-or-treating.
Adult Snoopy Halloween costumes are perfect for a daytime office party because they can easily be removed for work time. The outfit includes elastic waist white pants, white shirt, white shoe covers with elastic bands, and a headpiece containing a face opening. The headpiece has black ears, a white face, and a red dog collar.
Grownups will find wearing one of these funny costumes at the office party to be a great success. Partygoers will want to have their picture taken with the adorable beagle that is loved by all. When party time is over, the outfit can be removed and folded compactly. The shirt, pants, and shoe covers can usually be machine washed so the outfit can be worn multiple times without being ruined. Parents can surprise their children by donning one of the Snoopy costumes and that is what it's all about, isn't it?
Imagine the smile on your child's face when they see you all dressed up on Halloween is a Snoopy costume! It's not every parent that dresses up to amuse and entertain their children so this will be one of the wonderful memories you will make for your children. And it's a Halloween they are sure not to forget. Take pictures of everyone dressed up in their costumes for the family scrapbook.
Snoopy Halloween costumes are one of the classic costumes and sure to be a hit with neighborhood friends or co-workers. Everyone will recognize Charlie Brown's lovable dog and will comment on how realistic the outfit looks. So realistic that, in some cases, trick-or-treaters may find some dog biscuits in their loot!

Books VS Internet
e.Encyclopedia
As you could read in my bio, I've been doing book sales since 1990. During this time the trends in the publishing industry have been changing from year to year. At the end of the '90 the belief that internet will supplant books prevailed, although that has not happened. But it is true, that the sales of generic encyclopedias have decreased for a small percentage.
Lately I have been noticing that the interest for different encyclopedias has increased again. This is due to the fact, that internet offers a variety of different web pages, whose main interest is not to give to the user information they desire, but to make money with advertisements.
So what the users encounter?
Try to imagine your 10 year old child, who has a task to find the information for his project about the brain on internet. When you type for example in Google the word "brain", first "150" hits represent different "PhD dissertation" with a content that has nothing to do with the topic your child is interested in. Until the child finds appropriate information, a lot of precious time can be lost.
A while ago a common project has been launched by Google as the biggest "search engine" and Dorling Kindersley as one of the biggest publishers in the world. It has been named "E-encyclopedia".
E-encyclopedia means, you have extremely attractive encyclopedia with pictures at the one side and at the other a "search engine" that encompasses more than 1000 different web pages. Put differently this means that everything contained in a book is to be found on the internet as well.
My opinion is that books still have some advantages against internet. Internet is "jungle" and if you are not skilful with internet you may have a lot of problems to find right informations you desire.
Best regards,
Edie Kurnik

Safety During Welding Starts With Welding Goggles
If you are involved in welding, you already know the risks that are involved in regards to your eyes when you are working. Working without a pair of welding goggles is just plain foolish. Along with a safety apron and gloves, this should be one of your first purchases if you are going to begin welding as a hobby or career.
As amazing as it may seem, accidents that happen in welding are not really accidents, but carelessness. It could be someone not following shop rules or perhaps not being smart enough to wear the proper equipment. You are going to be working with flames and hot metal and if you think you don't have to protect yourself you are crazy.
If you are doing casual welding, a pair of welding goggles should do the job. Get a pair that will fit snugly on your face and that have air vents to make sure that they don't fog up on you. You want to make sure that you can see all the time and some of the cheaper ones will end up steaming up on you with all of the heat.
For more protection, you will want to wear a full welding helmet. Most people that weld professionally will use one of these because they cover the entire head. If you know that you are going to have to do a lot of close up welding, this is the best choice for you to work in.
While welding goggles are all we have covered so far, don't ignore things like welding gloves and a welding apron as well because they are just as important. You only have to get hit with a piece of hot metal one time to understand the mistake it is to take welding safety lightly.

Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles For Boys - Christmas Shopping Review
First of all, I wanted to tell you that the Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles are REAL night vision goggles. But they are designed for children from age 8 and up. This goggle allows you to see objects in the total darkness by using infrared technology.
And to be honest with you, the only limitations with these goggle is your child's imagination (or yours!). You see, these can be used for watching nocturnal animals at a safe distance away or for camp outs during the evenings.
With these, you can see up to fifty feet in total darkness. I mean total pitch darkness!
As I said at the beginning of this article, the only limitation for the use of these night vision goggles is the user's imagination. For instance, your child could conduct covert operations in the backyard or even play hide and seek, with a whole new twist to it!
And to be very brutally honest with you, many parents have gotten these Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles for their child and ended up using them too. And why not? It is utterly so fascinating to watch the animals and night time activity without being seen or noticed.
And it is no surprise that these infrared goggles have been voted as one of the top toys for the boys this upcoming holiday season. This is truly one of the most fascinating and unusual Christmas present any boy would expect to find under the tree on Christmas morning! That's for sure.
So what exactly do you get with these goggles? Well, it comes with a hinged flip up eyepiece. You actually have a choice whether to be in maximum surveillance mode where you can see up to 50 feet. Or be in the stealth mode and become completely invisible while walking around and exploring the night world.
Another option is to see things in black and white, or with the green screen. These goggles are actually quite sturdy and built with durable plastic that is pretty hard to break. It is a futuristic design that looks very cool. And as I said before, the straps are adjustable for comfort and ease of wear.
And parents, I really suggest that you supervise your child's area before he goes walking around at night. Be sure there isn't any obstruction lying about on the ground that he can trip over.
But there might be a problem, YOU may want to "borrow" the goggles every once in a while to do your own scientific studies of wildlife in the backyard. In that case, you may want to pick up 2 of these Eyeclops Infrared Goggles.
To sum it up, with these goggles, your child can be exploring the backyard and see things he never seen before. Like interesting night animals and insects.

How to Lose Custody - 10 Stupid Mistakes Parents Make
I doubt that you are seriously looking to lose custody of your children. If you are reading this article, then more than likely, you are either involved in a custody proceeding or anticipating involvement in a custody proceeding. If I'm wrong and you want to give away your kids, then you can contact the Department of Social Services to discuss an entrustment agreement. Over the years we have seen people do a lot of stupid things; make a lot of perfectly avoidable mistakes. While the things you learn in the school of experience stay with you a long time, it is less painful if you can learn from other people's mistakes. To learn from ten stupid mistakes parents make to lose custody, read on.
Mistake #1. Go to the initial hearing unprepared.
The first hearing is usually only scheduled for ten minutes. If you have reached an agreement, the court will enter a consent order and you are finished. If you have not reached an agreement, then even at the first calling of the case, some decisions must be made, such as where the children will stay temporarily. More than likely the court will enter a temporary order of custody and visitation at the first hearing and schedule a contested date for full hearing. If you are not prepared to address this with the court, you could lose custody at the first hearing. I have seen it happen.
Mistake #2. Don't consult a lawyer.
Don't seek sound legal advice early. Wait until the last minute to call a lawyer, if you call at all. Absolutely, don't hire a lawyer to represent you in the case. After all, its just your children. The court will decide how much contact you have with them, the duration of the contact and the frequency of the contact. If the other parent is a controlling or manipulative individual, you do not want your ability to see your kids contingent on his/her consent and agreement because the first time you have a disagreement, you will find the other parent has half a dozen reasons why the kids can't visit this weekend. Even if you are getting along well now, that doesn't mean that problems won't develop over time. If the order gives you such visitation as may be agreed, you have nothing unless the other parent agrees. In such a case, the order is so vague, it cannot be enforced.
By the way, no attorney can be prepared for court if you wait until the last minute. At PLG, we won't take a case unless we have at least a month to prepare. What people don't realize watching television lawyers win every week is that a lawyer doesn't simply walk into court and win a case; there is a great deal of preparation that goes into winning. That preparation, investigation and research takes time. Generally, subpoenas must be issued at least three weeks prior to the court date. If you don't subpoena witnesses and someone fails to appear on time for court, the court will not grant a continuance to get them there.
Mistake #3. Don't cooperate with your lawyer.
Don't provide the information, documentation and witness list he/she asks for, If you don't provide your lawyer with the information, the documentation and the witnesses, you are asking you r lawyer to build your case, while giving him/her nothing to work with. No information, no documentation, no witnesses; no case. Perhaps that bears repeating. Consider this proposition as a mathematical formula: no information + no documentation + no witnesses = no case. If you are going to get a lawyer and pay him/her to represent you, you really should go the distance and cooperate with the lawyer. After all your lawyer is there to help you. If you don't help your lawyer help you, you are actually hurting yourself.
Mistake #4. Violate court orders.
Once there are orders entered by the court. You must obey them. Violating court orders an result in fines, jail and other sanctions including the other parent's attorney's fees. Violating court orders gives rise to negative inferences by the judge on your case about you and your parenting. This is especially true if you are not paying court ordered support.
Mistake # 5. Lose your temper.
There's a reason it's called "losing" one's temper or "losing it". When it happens you are out of control. You say and do things that you would not ordinarily do. Stupid things. If you have difficulty with self control in the area of anger management, get help. Even if you have good self control. It may be a good idea to join a counseling group for parents without partners or divorce recovery so that you have a place to vent those feelings that build up into an angry outburst. It only takes one really stupid act done in anger, like shoving the other parent who is holding the baby at the time to lose custody. Once Custody is lost, you may never recover it.
Mistake # 6. Don't co-operate with the guardian ad litem.
The guardian ad litem is an attorney appointed by the court to represent your children. He/she is not there to advocate for you or for the other parent. His/her only job is to advocate for the children. The guardian ad litem is required to make known to the court the children's wishes with respect to custody and visitation, but also includes presenting what he/she believes to be in the best interests of the child, even if it is contrary to what the child wants. Your failure to make yourself available to the guardian, to provide requested documents and information will result in negative inferences by the guardian ad litem and could result in a recommendation against your receiving custody, partial or otherwise.
Mistake # 7. Lie to your lawyer.
That includes not telling your lawyer the whole truth. You may get by with it for a while but again, you may not. Don't you think that the other parent will tell his lawyer everything, especially those things that you don't want exposed? A good way to lose your case is to allow your lawyer to be surprised in court.
Mistake #8. Neglect your children.
Don't put them first. Leave them alone and unsupervised. Don't feed them healthy and nutritious diet. Don't make them bathe and brush their teeth. Don't provide a regular and consistent schedule for them including bedtime. Don't take them to the doctor when they are ill. Leave them stranded with no transportation back home. Oh, that's not you? Okay, then. Be consistently late to pick up your children for visitation. Better yet, don't show up at all. Consistently return your children early from visitation. Under no circumstances exercise all of the time the court has given you with your kids. Just skip it. Oh yea, don't take the kids to their activities, ball games, dance, scouts, tutoring, tai chi, karate, etc.
Mistake #9. Talk dirt.
Don't think about what you're doing when you open your mouth. Don't think about what you are going to say before you speak. Don't think about who you're talking to or who else is present. In short, do not be sure that your brain is engaged before putting your mouth in gear! Go ahead and blab whatever comes to your mind without thinking about what you are saying.
A. Talk to your children about what happens in court or what happens in the divorce. While it may be appropriate to let them know in a general way what is going on, depending upon their age, they do not need the gory details. If in doubt, ask your lawyer whether to say anything and how much to say.
B. Disrespect the other parent to or in front of the children.
C. Talk to or in front of the children about the other parent's indiscretions; talk badly about the other parent to the children... There absolutely no need to discuss the other parent's sexual liaisons with your children. There is a name for this type of behavior, it is called "parental alienation." Children subjected to this behavior are frequently diagnosed with "parental alienation syndrome." If the court finds credible evidence of this type of behavior, it can serve as a basis to deny you custody or to change existing custody and visitation arrangements.
D. Use your kids as a shrink. Using them to vent your frustrations with the other parent. If you need to vent, call a friend. Call a help line. Call your psychiatrist. Go deep into the woods by yourself and scream a primordial scream. Or keep your frustrations to yourself.
Mistake #10. Use your kids as pawns in the great chess game with the other parent.
Yes, I am saying other parent not spouse or ex-spouse for a reason. Several reasons. First to remind you that your kids have two parents. It was not an immaculate conception. Your kids need two parents. Just because you can't get along with the other parent or your marriage went down the toilet does not end your kids' relationship with the other parent and it should not end that relationship. This includes using your kids as spies in the other parent's household and pumping them for information. It stresses them our and can lead to serious emotional problems.
I also use "other parent" because not all parents are married to each other. Whether the parents are married or not, if the court believes there is credible evidence of this type of manipulative or retaliatory behavior, it can serve as a basis to deny custody or to change custody. Sometimes people seem to "get by with" using their kids to retaliate on each other. The terrible shame of it is the damage done to the children in the process. After all, it is the children who pay the ultimate price for this type of behavior. I have watched kids grow up in this type of environment, who are now adults with no desire to get married or have children of their own because of their experiences.

Instilling Values to Your Children
A big part of the responsibility of parents is to teach their children what is right and what is wrong. One of the main reasons that kids are not heading down the right path is that they don't have guidance.
Giving them a good and solid foundation for them to develop a strong work ethic is extremely important. It may be hard for them to understand right now, but this not only gives them something to do and a financial incentive to do it, but it also orders other areas of their lives.
Kids will also benefit from getting a well rounded view of the world and life in general. Giving them some culture and experiences in a wide range of activities will enrich their lives and open doors for them that otherwise would not be possible.
Strong families that are happy and healthy will do more to contribute to the opportunities and direction a kid will take. There is nothing like it, and it is difficult to duplicate. Having respect and love and admiration for family members will keep them on the right track and also help them to learn how to be a good parent and person down the line.
The next thing that should go is television and video games. There is seriously little that is enriching on cable, and other than a little here and there, it is huge waste of time. Television is so hypnotic, that after a while, reality and what we see on screen becomes intertwined and what we take in with our eyes has a direct effect on what we give back in our lives. Getting rid of it is not the issue, but limiting the time is what is important.
Games are another thing that is a really big waste of time in addition poison for the brain. Spending hours killing people on virtual reality games, or speeding through downtown and destroying property is not something that kids should be feeding on during their spare time.
The best thing to do to keep them out of trouble is keep them active, spend time with them and give them an interactive and peaceful environment to grow up in. This is the responsibility of the parents more than anything, and it is really important to take the bull by the horns and loving lead your children.

Google Latitude Free Cell Phone Locator
Cellphone technology has made some major announcements in recent years. One of these announcements is the introduction of GPS receivers into cell phones. GPS receivers were introduced into cell phones to solve an important problem that emergency dispatchers were having with finding people who called 911. If you call 911 from your home, your phone number and address will instantly appear on the screen of the dispatcher. The dispatcher can then get emergency help to you even if you are unable to tell them we're your exact location. With so many people using cell phones this posed a huge problem. People would often call 911 but be unable to tell the dispatcher their exact location. Consequently, the dispatcher didn't know where to send emergency help and many people died. GPS receivers were installed in cell phones and the solve that problem.
In 2009 Google realize that they could capitalize on the fact that phones have GPS receivers in them. They developed a very popular application called Google Latitude that allows individuals to track their friends, family, and business associates right from their cel lphone. It works with their already popular Google maps service. It's basically like a huge social networking site that instead of just telling you brief snippets about what the person is up to like they do on facebook and twitter, you actually see the location of your friend on a map.
It's quite easy to get set up with Google Latitude. All you have to do is go to Google's web site and download and install the app onto your phone. Once you have the app installed, you have to sign up for a Google Gmail account if you don't already have one. This is a free service much like yahoo mail. Then, all you have to do is send out friend requests to your friends who also have Gmail accounts and Google Latitude installed on their cell phones. Once they accept you, you will a small picture icon on the screen of your cell phone showing their exact location.
Only certain cell phones work with the Google Latitude cellphone locator service. There's a list of devices that are supported at Google's web site. Within the first week of Google launching the service over a million people signed up. So far, about three million people are using the service. This overwhelming popularity is a clear indicator that people really like being able to track people with your cell phones. Someday soon all mobile phones will come with cell phone tracker applications installed.
Imagine being able to find out the exact location of your children, spouse, or business associates at the touch of a button. This technology is really the way of the future. No longer is this kind of tracking simply something that can be done in the movies. It is now available for all of us to use and there are many reasons for using it. Of course this will bring some certain privacy questions into mind that buy Google thought about this in advance and built in a lot of easy to configure privacy settings into the Google Latitude app.
You can adjust the privacy settings for individual friends in your Google Latitudes friends list or for every one in your Google Latitude friends list. It's a good idea that if you do make privacy setting changes that you only intend to be temporary that you remember to change them back otherwise your friends will not be able to track you.

Infecting users via internet exposure and nooks and crannies found in unsecured browsers are the main causes of the redirect virus. So where does one inject the use of Google redirect virus fix? In order to properly employ its use first it is essential to understand what this threat is and what it does. The redirect malware lives up to its name, the infection causes a hijacking of any search or website visit a user plans to make. Instead of finding their site of choice the virus redirects them to fake websites containing ads and even corrupted pages.
The following fake errors are displayed by the vius

Focus on Increasing Craze of Google Book & Declining Book Reading Habit Among Youth
Out of the numerous issues that have negatively banged the book reading culture in our society, sky rocketing prices of books is significant among them. Apart from prices, with revolution in technology reading habits are changing across the globe, even e-versions of newspapers and online news resources have reduced the popularity of paper versions of newspapers. People have entrée to online newspapers early in the morning thus they prefer not to buy newspapers. Children under the age of 16 are choosing to spend their time amidst books. They have other things to do, chatting with their friends on the Internet, playing computer games and even watching TV.
It has been noticed that booking reading is becoming archaic and CD, DVD, and Internet culture is becoming more and more popular. Even a trend of reading soft copies or e-books of printed books is gaining an impetus. Reading is an energetic mental process - Unlike TV, books engage brain and enhances creativity. Books intricate on what one takes as small lumps of information from magazines, Internet posts or e-Mails; thus books make the hub and concentration better. Books can inflate horizons by providing information and are good source of education. Where formal education requires time commitments, books have no late-bells or hourly obligations. Books are cheap source of distraction and students can learn at their own pace.
On the other hand, it was believed that women read more literature than men do, but the survey indicates literary reading by both genders is declining. Only slightly more than one-third of adult males now read literature. Reading among women is also declining significantly, but at a slower rate.
Reading also affects our lifestyles. Fictitious readers are much more likely to be implicated in cultural, sports and volunteer activities than are non-readers. For example, literary readers are nearly three times as likely to attend a performing arts event, almost four times like to visit an art museum, more as two-and-a-half times as likely to do volunteer or charity work, and over one-and-a-half times as likely to attend or participate in sports activities. People who read more books tend to have the highest level of chipping in supplementary activities.
Books are not men and yet they stay alive.

EyeClops Night Vision Goggles - Some Parental Concerns
As a loving parent I purchased a set of the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles for each of my children - but as a concerned parent I continue to be vigilant over their use of the toy. To be honest with you, I'm still unsure whether or not these goggles can be truthfully classified a "toy" in its normal sense of the word. Don't get me wrong - I love them myself - and have since purchased a set for myself. But we need to keep in mind that it's rough enough to run around in the daylight - to run around in the pitch black of night is another thing entirely!
We are granted this ability to run around in the pitch black of night due to the spectacular technology contained in the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles! In high power mode the goggles allow you to see around 50 feet or so in the pitch black of night. I can tell you from personal experience that this ability can quickly lead to a false sense of confidence. But in reality, this is actually the reason why the night vision goggles have so much appeal to us humans - they grant us the ability to overcome one of our most primal fears - the fear of the night!
When you first put on the EyeClops you become a bit disoriented due to the monocular fashion that the camera comes into the goggles. This monocular view allows for the night vision mode to be seen through only one of your eyes. At first use this causes a sense of disorientation that goes away after about a minute. It was an odd feeling of nauseousness for me - but my kids loved it! They said it was like being on a ride at Disney World. The narrow field of view when using the night vision is also a bit unnerving. It's narrowness also lends to a bit of disorientation - and once again my kids love it. I think we may be seeing a pattern here.
Don't get me wrong - this is a fantastic device! Like I said earlier - I've since bought myself a set! It may have a few misgivings - but for less than $80 you're going to possess some true-to-life night vision. They're sturdy and lightweight - so they can take quite a bit. They are also quite comfortable which surprised me the most. I've tried a set of the $300 night vision goggles and couldn't keep them on for more than about 10 minutes. The Jakks EyeClops night vision goggles use soft rubber throughout the entire unit. This construction makes hours of enjoyment!
I would personally suggest that you go out and get a pair. With the holiday season upon us and birthday hearts to win - I can definitely tell you that if your gift contains a set of Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles - You too will be the "greatest dad (and/or mom) in the whole wide world!"

How to Buy Kids Electric Scooters at the Cheapest Price
There is a weird phenomenon that occurs when people ride around town on kids electric scooters. It can make an adult feel like a kid again, but can make a kid feel like an adult. Either way, they are a lot of fun. If you are thinking about buying an electric scooter there is one method that can allow you to save a substantial sum of money off the retail price. It can take a couple of weeks or more to find the lowest price, but with a little patience it's possible to lower your costs dramatically.
Taking two weeks to find the cheapest price may at first give the appearance of requiring a lot of work, but most of the time is spent waiting, not working. It should only take a few hours of actual effort before you can locate prices that are lower than you may have thought possible. Once you have found the cheapest online price you will be glad you put in the extra time and effort.
The way to save money is to do some price comparisons with a twist. Comparing prices is nothing new, it's been done forever, but by doing them the right way it's possible to save a lot of money. In the olden days you had to call salesmen on the phone or drive from store to store to compare prices. But in the day of the internet, shopping is much easier and less time consuming. By spending a little bit of time online you can quickly find the lowest prices for the electric scooter of your dreams.
Your first job is open a web browser and perform a Google search for the type of electric scooter you're looking for. At first, you can start with general search terms like electric scooters, electric motor scooter, gas scooters, gas powered scooters, or others. This will provide you with many top online sellers.
As you visit the top sites you will get a pretty quick idea of what the various brands and models are going for. Eventually, when you narrow down your list of acceptable scooters, you will be able to do a more exact search using specific brands and models. Visit as many as 10 sites or more that carry the brands you are considering and make notes of the selling price of each model. Be sure to include any additional fees such as shipping in your notes because some sites will sell the scooter cheaper, but add more shipping fees or other costs to your order. You will probably have to do a "mock buy" at each store to get their final price, but be sure not to buy anything right now.
Once you have the final selling price from about 10 different online sites you will do the same exact thing on Yahoo.com and then again on the Google Products search engine. A fourth place to check out is eBay. Visit all of these sites and write down the final cost at each of about 10 sites. It will probably take a couple of hours to do this research.
Now comes the hard part; you need to wait a week or two and then repeat the entire process. Waiting a week or two will often result in you being able to take advantage of special sales. You may not find any big sales going on the first time you check, but if you look at prices over an extended period of time you can often find bigger discounts from special sales that can save you a great deal of money. If you buy a scooter the very first day you may end up paying more money than is necessary.

Writing For Children - Use This Checklist to Be Sure Your Manuscript is Ready to Submit to Publisher
If you hope to sell your children's short-story, picture book, middle grade or YA novel to a publisher, you need to be sure your manuscript contains all the elements children's publishers look for.
Use this checklist BEFORE you submit your work to a magazine editor or book publisher. If your manuscript is missing any of the elements on this checklist, go back and do some rewriting until your story DOES contain each of these elements, and your story will be much more marketable.
__ 1. The story is written from a single point of view and a child is the point of view character. This single point of view is maintained throughout the story.
__ 2. The main (POV) character has a problem to solve right at the start of the story without a lot of background information provided first.
__ 3. The story has rising action, which means the problem keeps getting worse and worse for the main character, until something happens (the climax) that enables the main character to solve or resolve the problem.
__ 4. The main (POV) character solves or resolves the problem himself, without help from a parent or other well-meaning adult or another child, and the main (POV) character changes or grows somehow as a result of solving this problem. This is usually the "take away" point or theme of the story.
__ 5. Most of the story is "shown" through action and dialogue rather than "told" through straight narrative or inner monologue.
__ 6. The story ends with an unusual "twist" that is unexpected but completely logical.

Google Chrome
What Google is calling 'a fresh take on the browser'
Google spent a lot of time building an Explorer killing web browser which they have called Chrome. Google Chrome allows users to browse, search, chat, email and collaborate so much more in a browser that is faster than any of the others that I use. I use Firefox for the plugins, Opera when I want to browse because it does not have the plugins and so it is faster, Flock, Safari and Explorer as test browsers for the sites that I work on (all browsers have to work!)
I was expecting Google to buy into Firefox, but that is probably too open source for them. To compete against MS the product has to remain more under their control. Google is a fan of gadgets, so I expect that there will be quite a few gadgets in the near future. Google did use components from Apple's WebKit and Mozilla's Firefox, and this ends up being open source, but a Google open source as opposed to a Mozilla open source. It is important to see the difference, since Google can change the core of their application and not worry about everyone from Mozilla having to buy in. Smart move, I say.
New Features
When you open a new tab in Chrome you have some interesting options. You have the 9 most visited sites in the main part of the window, on the right there is a search bar, a list of your recent bookmarks and a list of recently closed tabs. Pretty much the things that you would need or want to access.
There is also a small link on the bottom left that shows your full history, so you really do have access to anything that you have been recently working on. The site history does not open in a small sidebar, it opens in the full page. There is also a search function for your history. This is a great improvement on the other browsers.
There is also a full list of Chrome features, each with a 30 second video, on the Google Chrome site.
Since we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if you started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what Google set out to build.
In theory, each tab works as a stand alone browser. If one tab crashes the others do not crash. At least this is what they say, I have not had a crash yet to let you know it it works.
Google claims that there is "improved speed and responsiveness across the board". I find this an understatement. This is the fasted browser on the internet today. They also say that they built V8, a more powerful JavaScript engine, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers. This seems true to me, and only time will tell.
One Thing I Don't Like
There is always something. I like to click download and ignore the files. In Chrome the download appears at the bottom of your browser window and you can later execute it, drag it to your desktop or save it to a folder. I know this sounds smarter than what I am doing now, but old habits die hard.
This is just the beginning - Google Chrome is far from done. There is a beta for Windows and they are building versions for Mac and Linux.
Google only gets better, with every tool they have come out with. Firefox, Opera and IE can stand to have a new and powerful browser to compete against. Maybe FF will crash less and IE will finally be made into something other than a memory hog. I still use FF, but I think that Opera will only sit next to Safari for testing. (IE is not yet in the garbage because it does come installed on so many PC's).
Google Chrome is a great option for fast browsing if you can live without all those add-ons that you have gotten used to. Recently I was only using Opera and would open FF just to use an add-on. this may sound silly, but I work much faster like this. As I said, Opera is on its way to retirement for me.
The best test of Google Chrome is to try it yourself.

Make Your Own Website For Kids
These days, it's inevitable that your kids will be spending a lot of their time on computers. It is easier than you might think to make your own website. The first question you need to answer, is what do I want to feature on my website? Of course that will depend on the age group you will be targeting. You can make a site virtually about anything that interests you or your family. Building your website with your child is one way to ensure that it will be of interest to kids. Once you have decided what features your website should have, here are a few things you may want to check into.
Do you want to make a web site about one topic or several topics? Will this be a private page just for friends and family or one that any child can access? Just make sure that you try to stick to one topic per page. Try not to overload your web pages with too much animation or flashing objects. Consider making a theme web page. Perhaps you love pets or animals. Maybe your family is into sports big time. An interactive page with puzzles, games or reviews about books or movies can be a lot of fun for kids. In searching the web, one can find many free tools to use for your site. They include but are not limited to, computer jigsaw puzzles, quizzes, posters, and clipart images that you may want to use on your site. Origami would also be an interesting item to feature on your site. Sudoku and crossword puzzles are another fun idea and still hugely popular among kids and adults alike.
Start thinking about what features you want to include when you build your own website. An educational website is one way to go because then you can make learning fun. Think about sites that include math or biology or even sites about dinosaurs or astronomy. You could include historical facts or talk about geography by exploring different parts of the world. Don't forget to think about safety. If your website is a personal one just for your kids, make sure the site is password-protected so that only invited people can access the site. You want to be absolutely sure that there is no personal information on it.
Other important things to consider will be the name of your site. You will need to choose what is called a domain name - the name typed into the address bar in order to visit a site. You can purchase a domain name on sites like GoDaddy or Namecheap. On average, they are usually under $10 to purchase. That will be a yearly fee in order to keep the name. Before you purchase a domain name, check for coupons first by putting something like "GoDaddy coupons" into Google. I always use a coupon when purchasing a domain name. Secondly, you will need to host your site somewhere. That is how websites get on the world wide web. Hosting is usually purchased at a cost of around $10 a month. However, I get my hosting free and you may want to look into that option by downloading my ebook below.
